Our Team

Jean Paul Hategekimana is a seasoned food safety and quality management expert, University Lecturer and consultant with over 13 years of experience in Rwanda’s agri-food sector. He holds a Master of Science in Food Safety from Wageningen University in the Netherlands and a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Technology from the Kigali Institute of Science and Technology.

Throughout his career, Jean Paul has offered extensive technical guidance on the implementation of food safety management systems across the food value chain—from primary production to distribution. He has worked closely with enterprises involved in food and feed production, catering services, transport, and logistics, supporting them to meet both customer and regulatory standards through Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), Good Handling Practices (GHP), and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

As Managing Director of Food Safety Initiative Ltd, Jean Paul continues to be a driving force in strengthening Rwanda’s food safety culture and enhancing the competitiveness of its agrifood industry.
